Feeding Therapy
Our feeding therapy services at Therapy Matters NY are designed to support children and families through every stage of the feeding journey. Led by licensed speech-language pathologists, we begin with a comprehensive evaluation that looks at oral-motor skills, swallowing function, food preferences, and behavioral patterns. This allows us to create a personalized, evidence-based plan that addresses each child’s unique needs while setting clear, achievable goals.
Myofunctional Therapy
We are proud to offer orofacial myofunctional therapy for both pediatric and adult clients, focusing on improving the strength, coordination, and function of the muscles of the face and mouth. Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMDs) can impact a wide range of essential functions—including breathing, chewing, swallowing, speech, and even facial development and orthodontic stability. Through personalized, evidence-based therapy, we help address these underlying patterns to support healthier function, improved comfort, and long-term outcomes across daily life.
Tethered Oral Tissues
We provide comprehensive evaluation and treatment for tethered oral tissues (tongue, lip, and buccal ties), which can significantly impact feeding, swallowing, speech, and overall oral function. These conditions may present through challenges such as difficulty with breastfeeding or bottle feeding, poor weight gain, gastrointestinal discomfort, and delays in transitioning to solid foods, as well as speech articulation concerns. Our team carefully assesses both the presence and functional impact of these restrictions to guide the most appropriate care.
Group Sessions
We’re excited to introduce our “Munch Buddies” feeding workshops, designed to support children and caregivers at every stage of the feeding journey—from starting solids to building confident, independent eaters. Led by experienced feeding therapists, these sessions combine expert guidance with hands-on strategies to help create positive, stress-free mealtimes.
Our age-based programs focus on practical skills, sensory exploration, and real-life application, while giving caregivers personalized tools they can use at home. Whether you’re preparing for first bites or managing picky eating, our workshops are designed to make feeding easier, more enjoyable, and successful for the whole family.
Professional Mentorship
We now offer virtual mentoring sessions for speech-language pathologists and occupational therapists looking for guidance with feeding cases. Bring your own cases or work through curated case studies as we guide you through evaluations, treatment planning, and effective therapy techniques to improve outcomes.
Each session is fully customizable to your needs, providing practical, hands-on support you can immediately apply in your practice.
Speech and Language Pathology
At Therapy Matters NY, we provide a wide range of services to support children with speech, language, and feeding challenges. Our approach combines evidence-based therapy with creativity and play, allowing us to create individualized treatment plans tailored to each child’s needs.
We address a variety of concerns, including articulation and language disorders, auditory processing difficulties, apraxia of speech, autism spectrum disorder, social communication challenges, literacy skills, selective mutism, and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
Lactation and Bottle Feeding Support
Our feeding specialists and lactation consultants provide personalized, evidence-based support for families navigating breastfeeding and bottle feeding challenges. Whether you’re experiencing issues like low milk supply, discomfort during feeding, poor weight gain, or transitioning to bottles and solids, we offer tailored guidance to help you and your baby succeed with confidence.
We also specialize in identifying and treating tethered oral tissues (tongue, lip, and buccal ties), which can impact feeding, digestion, and speech development. Through comprehensive evaluations, targeted therapy, and collaboration with caregivers and medical professionals, we focus on improving oral function and creating lasting, positive feeding outcomes.
PROMPT Therapy
We offer PROMPT Therapy, a specialized, hands-on approach that supports clear and coordinated speech through tactile cues to the jaw, lips, and cheeks. This method helps individuals develop the motor planning and movement patterns needed for accurate speech production, making it especially effective for those with apraxia of speech and other motor-based speech challenges.
Our sessions are engaging, individualized, and integrated into meaningful activities to encourage real-life communication. By combining PROMPT with evidence-based techniques and family support, we focus on building confidence, improving speech clarity, and helping clients communicate more effectively in everyday life.
Adult Myofunctional Therapy
We provide highly individualized care for adults experiencing a range of communication, swallowing, and orofacial concerns, including aphasia, dysphagia, dysarthria, TMJ dysfunction, chronic headaches, and post-stroke or brain injury rehabilitation. Our approach is functional and evidence-based, focusing on improving real-life outcomes such as communication, comfort, and quality of life.
Through a collaborative model, we work closely with medical and dental professionals to address underlying causes—particularly for issues related to breathing, sleep, and jaw function. Every treatment plan is tailored to the individual, ensuring compassionate, discreet care that supports meaningful and lasting progress.
Bottle Refusals
We offer specialized Bottle Refusal Consultations for infants who are struggling to transition from breastfeeding to bottle feeding—especially for families preparing to return to work. Our feeding and lactation specialists provide gentle, evidence-based guidance to help reduce stress and create a smoother, more successful feeding experience for both baby and caregiver.
Through personalized 1:1 support, we help you build a realistic feeding plan, introduce bottles effectively, and establish routines that work for your family. Whether you’ve tried multiple approaches without success or are just getting started, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
Gestalt Language Processing
We support children who are Gestalt Language Processors (GLPs)—those who learn language in meaningful phrases rather than single words. Using evidence-based approaches such as Natural Language Acquisition (NLA), we help children move from echolalia and scripted language toward more flexible, spontaneous communication.
Our therapy is play-based, child-led, and focused on real-life interaction, with strong caregiver involvement to support progress beyond sessions. By building on each child’s natural language style, we create a supportive pathway toward confident, independent communication.
